Tourist places in Abancay

Main Square
On one of its sides is the Señor de la Caída church, which occupies an entire side facing the Mariño River, with its main entrance on Jr Lima and not towards the main square, as is the case in most other cities. It is also a place visited by many people, including locals and foreigners. The city of Abancay was founded as a city on April 28, 1873.

Capitán Rumi Lookout
It is located in the Curahuasi district, in the province of Abancay, in the department of Apurímac. This chapel has an architectural design typical of the European style. This lookout has a distinctive feature, as it houses a collection of strange, large stones aligned in several columns that stretch to the Curahuasina Plain. This alignment is dominated by a massive boulder estimated to weigh around 120 tons.

Pachacamac Bridge
It is located 15 km from Abancay, over the waters of the Pachachaca River. Its impressive colonial design makes it unique in its kind in the Americas. It was entirely built from stone masonry and features a wide roadway, with its parapet adorned with a niche in the center. This beautiful construction dates back to the 16th century.

Ampay National Sanctuary
Its name comes from Mount Ampay, which watches over the city of Abancay, and it is also the name of the forests that cover the surrounding hills. The sanctuary is home to two lagoons, the most spectacular of which is Uspaccocha Lagoon, which appears to be a giant crater. The snowy peaks of Ampay are reflected in its waters.
