Buy bus tickets to Chiclayo and enjoy your next road trip. But before embarking on your adventure, it’s important to know that Chiclayo is a city on the northern coast of Peru, the capital of the homonymous province and the department of Lambayeque.
It was founded under the name Santa María de los Valles de Chiclayo. It is located 13 kilometers from the Pacific coast and nearly 770 kilometers from the capital of the country, making it the fourth most populated city in Peru and the second most populated city in the Northern Macro Region of Peru.
Currently, Chiclayo is one of the most important urban areas in Peru, being the fifth largest city in the country. The city was founded near an important ancient archaeological site, the northern ruins of Wari, which constitute the remains of a city from the 7th to the 12th century of the Wari Empire. However, this does not diminish the Moche identity that its inhabitants describe, as the history of the city is mostly linked to this ancient and rich pre-Hispanic civilization, which has left important discoveries of its great culture to the world, such as the legendary Lord of Sipán.
